ABSTRACT Evolutionary systems of defense and survival
strategies may be dismissed and seemingly discredited by associating them
with pathology, by stigmatization. It becomes easier to be dismissive and
suppressive without reasoned argument. Ethnocentrism, preference for one's
own ethnicity, nationality, race, is mis-diagnosed and called xenophobia,
a psychological disorder, but a punishable offence in the European
Community. Group strategies are very powerful in competition with
individual strategies within a society, as has been the case with Judaism.
Although a powerful collectivist oligarchy is acting strongly to suppress
it, Free Inquiry is the Western way to improving quality of life with
Liberty.
KEYWORDS Ethnocentrism, eugenics, human ecology, race,
xenophobia.
A history of Britain and Ireland by Norman Davies
published in 2000, "The Isles," (Oxford University Press) begins with an
account of Cheddar Man, an 8,980-year-old skeleton from which
mitochondrial DNA was extracted in 1996. The DNA turned out to match that
of Adrian Targett, a teacher in a Cheddar village school, proving a
genetic continuity that, despite numerous invasions, had endured through
nine millennia, 3 to 400 generations. Cheddar Man seems to have been
almost contemporaneous with Kennewick Man, the Caucasoid skeleton found in
North America.
5,300 years ago, a man in his early thirties set
out on journey in the Tyrolean Alps. He froze to death and has been called
the Ice Man or Otzie, after the Ötz valley nearby. In June 1994 he was
visited by his 200th generation descendant, Mrs. Marie Mosely, age 35 from
Cork in Ireland. who lives with her husband in Bournemouth, England. She
has white skin, golden-color hair and blues eyes. She says,
"I've decided not to have any children so it will be up to someone else to
continue the Ice family." Marie has made a choice. Has Marie has been
subjected to indoctrination? Indoctrination is part of all schooling. We
lost the last of the Mohicans. We nearly lost the buffalo and the condor
in our lifetime. We can choose for the future. We can choose to have
children like ourselves, hybrids, or none at all. We could lose
ourselves.
Egyptian art in the Age of the Pyramids, the Old
Kingdom, depicts King Menkaure (ca.2490-2472 B.C.) realistically. They are
descendants of the people who survived the last Ice Age and exploited its
end around the Mediterranean. I recognize them and the representations of
ancient Greeks and Romans, in paintings of the Renaissance as people who
look more like people of my race than they do people from south of the
Sahara or the Far East. Whatever our race, five millennia from Otzie the
Celt, we can go into museums and see the works of our ancestors, and
portrayals of people with familiar faces. In 1974 I introduced Salvador
Dali to a look-alike Flora in Botticelli's La Primavera. He and Gala were
entertaining a woman with the face of Leonardo da Vinci's St. Anne. We can
commune with the arts of the centuries up to our own. In another century,
if ethnic integrity continues to be negatively associated, will that still
be possible for the majority of Mankind?
When one variety, one subspecies, one race, one
ethic group, one language, one color, is no more, the loss is forever, the
genocide irrevocable.
Geographic isolation and military resistance
limiting invasions were the probable factors accounting for the survival
of the genetic signatures carried by Adrian and Marie, and the cultural
heritages of people like them.
We would not be here today if Charles Martel and
the Franks had not stopped the conquest of France by the Saracens at Tours
and Poitiers in 732, or if the Golden Horde of Mongols, one of the
most devastating military organizations the world has even seen, had not
turned back from making mountains of European skulls in the 13th century,
because of the death of their great Khan. Had Vienna been overrun by the
great Turkish army numbering 200,000 in 1683, it would have suffered the
fate of Constantinople.
Without the sacrifices of the men who fought the
invaders, the increasing light in Europe would have been put out, and we
should not forget them. The music of Johann Sebastian Bach, Handel,
Mozart, Haydn, the churches and palaces where these musicians played and
where their songs and music may still be heard today, would not have been
created. The effect upon us of the transformation of Vienna and the heart
of Europe into a Moslem center had it fallen to the Turks can hardly be
imagined.
So we had the Enlightenment. In mid-18 century the
last person was racked for allegedly converting a family from Roman
Catholicism to Protestantism. While the Western peoples have reached the
moon and explored space, harnessed nuclear energy, utilized the
electromagnetic spectrum, cloned mammals and completed the genome project,
and produced the Information-Technology revolution, beheading for apostasy
may still be practiced in Saudi Arabia for example.
Understanding the Twenty-first Century Threat to
Ethnic and Cultural Continuity
Mosques are mushrooming all over the western world,
except in former Serbia and Croatia, as are the symbols of many
non-western peoples and their cultures. From Norway to Sicily there is an
invasion of the Western world by non-European peoples. What difference
will it make to our future? History educates us on systems of defense for
ethnic and cultural survival.
The defining world conflict of the 20th century was
between National Socialist Germany and its allies, and the Union of
Socialist Soviet republics and its international capitalist allies,
primarily Britain and the United Sates of America with their great
financial capitals of London and New York. Quickly conquering almost the
whole European continent, Germany's 'crusade against Bolshevism' almost
succeeded.
As in the Great War, a psychological propaganda war
was conducted by British and American experts at home and abroad to
strengthen support for the war and to discredit the enemy. Postwar Germany
was subjected to fifty years of official foreign military occupation, and
programs of 're-education.' With the victory of the U.S.S.R. and its
Allies in the Second World War, came the Marxist associated shift from
nature to nurture, from biology to culture. Huge social changes have been
made in western countries based on its false conclusions. In postwar
Europe, "parties of the far right were everywhere excluded from serious
political influence." A list of ideas associated with National
Socialism, and therefore given negative value were economic
self-sufficiency, eugenics, heredity, immigration restriction,
miscegenation, race differences, segregation, being most prominent. There
has been continual reinforcement of negative association of these concepts
in Soviet and or western media since then. But some, at least, of these
are part of systems for ethnic/cultural survival.
Regarding race, for example, the post-World War II
declarations on race and racial differences issued by UNESCO in 1951 under
the chairmanship of G. F. Debetz of the Moscow Institute of Ethnography
(revised Int. Soc. Sci. J., No. 1, Vol. XVII: 157-161, 1965), ensured
their Marxist ideological correctness.
Not to be outbid, the Roman Catholic Bishops of the
United States at the Ecumenical Council in Rome in 1963 successfully
pressed for the adoption of a document stating that qualitative
differences between races was contrary to the church's fundamental
beliefs. Other denominations adopted similar resolutions. The World
Council of Churches warned its federated members that Christians who
supported racial segregation "by action or inaction" betray Jesus Christ
and the "fellowship which bears his name."
Science had again clashed with religion, and
religion and ideology had regained the power. We may call it Egalitarian
Theology or the Equalist Dogma once promoted by internationalist Marxism
and now by transnational debt capitalism.
A result has been a process that Leo Strauss called
the Reductio ad Hitlerum. " If Hitler liked neoclassical art, that means
that classicism in every form is Nazi; if Hitler wanted to strengthen the
German family, that makes the traditional family (and its defenders) Nazi;
if Hitler spoke of the 'nation' or the 'folk,' then any invocation of
nationality, ethnicity, or even folkishness is Nazi . . ." (Fleming 2000).
Candidates for entrance into German conservatories of music whose
compositions suggested a tune or melody were rejected as writing "folkish
music." In architecture, Berlin, for example, was "more severely
damaged by architects than bombs. The principal reason for this was the
ruthless postwar application of the Athens Charter of 1933, the manifesto
of CIAM (Congrès Internationeaux d'Architecture Moderne) in which Le
Corbusier was the dominant force." Since Corbusier's dictum that a house
is a machine for living in had been rejected by the National Socialists,
to follow Le Corbusier was politically correct.
"This was a classic case of destruction brought
about by the imposition of an 'ethic' now widely disregarded as
discredited, and demonstrates that had aesthetics been the priority, much
that made Berlin distinctive, habitable and attractive would have been
saved despite the extensive bombing (Morris)."
This 'ethical' stigmatization has caused a
catastrophic distortion of Western culture, its arts and sciences. It has
been reinforced in over 500 anti-Nazi films, and countless TV
presentations, against the three anti-Jewish films Nazis made in ten
years.
With National Socialist-associated subjects and
even words carrying high negative charges, researchers have found
themselves in what E. O. Wilson called "a minefield" of explosive areas.
Psychologically, operative systems include denial-racial differences are
dismissed as 'artifacts of classification.' Turning against the
self-xenophilia or preferring others to one's own group. Reaction
formation-whites exhibiting excessive solicitude for other races to cover
their fear of being harmed by them. Identification with the
aggressor-perhaps the American parents who embraced the murderer of their
daughter, Amy Biehl, in South Africa. Since anxiety on race issues is high
in many white ethnics, conversion and sublimation defenses are probably to
be found.
Are these among the motivations of white people who
label those who oppose incremental invasion of Europe "right-wing
extremists?" Preference for one's own ethnic group, or criticism of other
groups is labeled by the media and others Xenophobia. From economic
interdependence instead of a National Socialist striving toward economic
independence, to the joyful celebration on American TV evening news of the
birth of a child to a retarded couple who could not look after themselves
and had been assisted with copulation-eugenics is nonsense! The majority
of the Western civilization has been massively reacted to the opposite of
every idea that was associated with Nazism.
The German historian, Ernst Nolte, receiving the
year 2000 Konrad Adenauer Prize for literature of a conservative
foundation -- the Deutschland Stiftung, caused a tremor among oligarchic
collectivists when he said, "We should leave behind the view that the
opposite of National Socialist goals is always good and right." The
award was presented by Horst Moeller, director of the respected Institute
for Contemporary History, one of the country's leading academic
institutions concerned with documenting the Nazi period. The event
triggered an angry reaction by some opposing historians. Yet Nolte, the
recipient of the award, has been the subject of intense persecution over
the last ten years, having had his car bombed and burned and his summer
retreat made the target of arsonists.
Germans were not taught the lessons of Liberty
during their half-century of foreign occupation by the USSR and its
Allies.
Political assassins and spin-doctors use guilt by
association. Guilt is -- in a sense -- a self-administered punishment.
False guilt, foisted on children in Europe and America as Holocaust and
Slavery Studies, is unlimited self-punishment. Declaring non-"Politically
Correct" ideas "abnormal" serves as a weapon against those holding them;
by extension, they too must be abnormal. Evolutionary defense and survival
strategies may be dismissed and seemingly discredited by associating them
with pathology, by stigmatization. It becomes easier to be dismissive and
suppressive without reasoned argument. It is logically fallacious to
equate criticism to hate.
Preference for one's own ethnicity, nationality,
race, properly termed ethnocentrism, is called xenophobia. Webster's New
International Dictionary, 1961, defines xenophobia as "fear and hatred of
strangers or foreigners or of anything that is strange or foreign." Its
use to label people who oppose immigration, or criticize foreigners is a
misuse of language, and abuse of the addressee. A phobia is an
unreasonable fear, a morbid dread that interferes with function. It is a
psychiatric diagnosis. But an expressed preference for one's own
ethnicity, nationality, race, properly termed ethnocentrism, is mislabeled
and diagnosed as xenophobia, making a psychological disorder a punishable
offence in the European Community, and hazardous to livelihood in
the USA.
There is precedent for hospitalization for
dissidents in the USA, with the example made of poet Ezra Pound after
World War II, confined for thirteen years in St. Elizabeth mental hospital
in Washington DC. and Nobel Laureate Knut Hamsun, kept in a mental
hospital in Norway as a war-time German sympathizer.
Systems and Strategies for Survival by Defense
of ethnicity
The crass position of the European Union on
Xenophobia should and can be reversed. There is the example of Jewish
groups. They not only had the United Nations General Assembly 1974
resolution equating Zionism with Racism reversed, but following the
world-wide distribution and advertising of the fictional film 'Schindler's
List,' they had the U.S.A. push through a resolution declaring
antisemitism 'a crime against humanity.'
Where is the pressure coming from for these
measures? Not from majority electorates, but from special interest
lobbies. The repressive, regressive laws are legislated and dispensed by
politicians eager to award symbolic attention and protection to particular
interest groups (Jacobs and Potter 1998). So thought may be criminalized
and belief pathologized.
There is more comfort for children, more stability
for a society, where there is a commonality of ethnicity, culture and
interest. "We all speak from a particular place, out of a particular
experience, a particular culture, without being contained by that position
. . . We are all in that sense, ethnically located and our ethnic
identities are crucial to the subjective sense of who we are" (Hutchinson
and Smith 1997).
Pattern systems of in-group loyalty and out-group
suspicion have served an effective evolutionary purpose over the long
history of primate and human biological evolution. Human groups which lose
their internal sense of identity and cohesion in respect of other
groups eventually cease to exist as
discrete realities. Such groups may become absorbed in neighboring
populations. On the other hand, when a distinctive population or gene
pool, such as is reflected by a minority population in a modem
multi-racial society, retains its identity and persists in practicing
endogamous marriage - showing a sense of "brotherhood" - it may expect to
survive as an identifiable biological group far into the foreseeable
future.
This is evident in self-segregating groups such as
the Amish people and Orthodox Jews. They have group strategies that
include indoctrination, a critical human adaptation that enables the
formation of highly cohesive groups. Group strategies are very powerful in
competition with individual strategies within a society, as has been the
case with Judaism. Study and emulation where appropriate may offer
survival values.
In a trilogy that uses evolutionary biology theory
as a paradigm to study group strategies, MacDonald considers Jewish group
strategy over centuries as one that has been successful but has produced
recurrent tragedy. He presents social psychology analysis suggesting: (1)
Judaism has been characterized by cultural and eugenic practices that
produced a highly talented and educated elite that was able to improve the
fortunes of the entire group; (2) universal Jewish education resulted in
an average resource acquisition ability that was above that of the rest of
the society; and (3) there were high levels of within-group altruism and
cooperation. Seeking analytic explanations for the tragedy of their
treatment recurring over more than two millennia, his analyses include
Adorno et alia's 1950 book, The Authoritarian Personality. Kevin MacDonald
writes that one might infer that a prominent aspect of this material is
the attempt to pathologize adaptive gentile behavior in general." Given
the presence of a powerful group strategy within a society, there is the
expectation that dynamic processes will develop between the strategizing
group and the rest of the population. In particular, as a group strategy
such as Judaism comes to be increasingly salient and powerful within a
society, out-group members are expected to be increasingly likely to join
highly cohesive groups in an effort to further their own interests
(MacDonald, 1999). This is the most valuable guide to date for the
understanding of recurring antisemitism.
Indoctrination and consciousness-raising should
encourage the continuation of the spotted owl in primal forests of the
American Northwest, of the snail-darter fish, and of iceman Otzie and
Marie. We must syntonically orient our way of thinking for 12,000 species
of butterfly to survive, and for 1,500 nations to flourish.
The great American human ecologist, Garrett Hardin,
at Santa Barbara, has been showing and telling us for over thirty years
why we must to use science rather than manipulated sentimentality in
planning public policy. In his 1993 book, Living Within Limits: Ecology,
Economics and Population Taboos, he writes "a dissertation on the laws of
nature that must be obeyed."
"The formula for survival and progress is simple:
Unity within each sovereignty, diversity among sovereignties…The wisdom is
very old: Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Given many sovereign
nations, it is possible for humanity to carry out many experiments in
population control. Each nation can observe the successes and failures of
the others. Experiments that have a good outcome can be copied and perhaps
improved upon; unsuccessful experiments can be noted and not repeated.
Such learning by trial and error is perilous if the borderless world
created by unrestricted migration converts the entire globe into one
single hue experiment. As long as the intelligence of the human species is
less than perfect…segmented parochialism is superior to unified
cosmopolitanism in disclosing and capitalizing on the diverse
possibilities of human nature."
The Integrity of Nations, Ethnicities, and of
each of us is threatened
In the year 2000, while the American President was
pushing 'interdependence,' rather than American independence as required
by the Constitution, President Jiang Zemin, The Peoples Republic of China,
said: The principle of democracy must be advocated and implemented in
handling world affairs, whether in maintaining world peace or promoting
common development. All countries big
or small, rich or poor, strong or weak, are equal members of the
international community and have the right to take part in and handle
world affairs. Matters that fall within the scope of sovereignty of a
country should be managed only by the government and people of that
country, and the world affairs should be handled by the governments and
people of all countries through consultation. This is the principle of
democracy in handling world affairs. Today, the world's destiny should be
in the hands of the people of all countries.
The world is diverse and colorful. Just as there
should not be only one color in the universe, so there should not be only
one civilization, one social system, one development model or one set of
values in the world. Each and every country and nation has made its own
contribution to the development of human civilization. It is essential to
fully respect the diversity of different nations, religions and
civilizations, whose coexistence is the very source of vigorous
development in the world. We should promote the exchanges between
different civilizations in a spirit of equality and democracy and
encourage them to learn from one another in order to attain common
progress.
Aggregation and centralization of power-military,
judicial, economic, are represented by the centralized media as the best
means for ensuring objectives-peace, justice, human rights, and other
objectives believed to be desirable. The means may also be advertised as
inevitable. Thus a climate of opinion is being created in which
well-meaning people are supporting the means for the implantation of
tyranny to ensure "peace, justice, human rights . . ." Thus well-meaning
people who lack penetration in analysis may work for their own and future
generations' deprivation of liberty.
The academic community can lead with insistence
upon civility in criticism of differing analyses, and proscription of ad
hominem attacks instead of argued differences. A massive PR campaign is
underway to repress and restrict our freedom to speak and write freely
using so-called "Hate laws," which could be called 'Hate the laws of
Liberty.' The U.S.A. should resume the role envisioned by its founders -
an example of a nation of people free to think, to speak, write, and
assemble without fear of repression and loss of livelihood.
Let us to carry and not conceal the weapon of
wisdom used and recommended by Thomas Jefferson. It is carved in stone
over the entrance to the state archives in Virginia, Reason and Free
Inquiry are the effectual agents against error. They are the natural
enemies of error and error only.
